"...what is left of America"
"...he has turned our troops into murderers"
"...diplomacy by skinning"
"...Mr Bush are you thinking at all?
This is just small sample of the comments by a former ESPN commentator turned political analyst (truly the land of opportunity). If you haven't guess who yet, yes, I am referring to Keith Olbermann. A man that seems to want nothing more than to degrade, invoke hate, and tell viewers how most everything that is wrong with America is George Bush's fault alone.
Yes, as a optimist, I continue to hope that one night during my viewing of several different news shows, that I will hear Keith refrain from his almost daily rant about how everything is George W's fault. In fact, I have had my fill and need to stand up and comment about Mr. Olbermann. This blog site, courtesy of Townhall, is the result of that need.
I watch several shows on a regular basis: The Situation Room, O'Reilly Factor, Glenn Beck, Countdown, Hannity and Colmes, Hardball, Lou Dobbs, and Jack Cafferty - to name a few. This is the only way to aggregate all available information to formulate my own opinion, bolster a current opinion or even provide a foundation to change an existing opinion - ultimately allowing me to keep my head out of the sand. Is this method without error? Hardly, but when combined with various Internet sites such as: BBC, Economist and The Huffington Post provides me with my best possibility of success - to make an informed, educated decision and/or opinion.
I concede that GW has made some mistakes during his two terms, however, even Keith must realize that some of the problems he believes are resulting in a vanishing America (his term "what is left of America") have not happened just in this administration. Example: Our need for importing oil didn't happen in the last 8 years, both parties share blame for our lack of effort to correct. Perhaps that is a bit of a stretch to assume, or if Keith were to admit that publicly, he would be left with very little to spew hate with?
Well Mr. Olbermann, I hope you are enjoying the Freedom of Speech you are granted as a citizen in what you refer to as "what is left of America." You can thank the countless, how did you term them? Was it murderers or more correctly they would be historical murderers? Perhaps rather than sitting behind a television program desk, you could get out there and run for office. Then we could all benefit from your ideas rather than just listening to your pithy comments on what are the faults of this current administration. Take the time and register in your local town for a position that is available. Don't be so selfish with your energies and ideas that could possibly benefit your fellow citizens. Take advantage of your public position to make a positive difference and change. Rather than being skewed negative, put a positive spin on circumstances. Remember, as stated in one of this countries greatest treasures - "We the People...."
That includes you, unless you feel that another country would better serve your needs. If so, I'll help you pack!
